IHE Blog Post Chosen for Norton Anthology

I’ve always held it to be self-evident that good writing is good writing, no matter the platform. For those of us who put a lot of time and effort into trying to get words right for blogs, online columns, and other venues, it’s gratifying to see web writing being taken more seriously all the time.
That’s why I’m very happy to report that when W.W. Norton publishes The Best Creative Nonfiction, Volume 3, edited by Lee Gutkind, it will include a piece that first appeared at this blog. The anthology will be published in July 2009 simultaneously as a trade paperback and as an issue of the influential journal Creative Nonfiction.
My sincere thanks to Lee and the editorial board at Creative Nonfiction. Show your support for their decision to showcase new voices, ideas, forms and approaches in creative nonfiction by pre-ordering The Best Creative Nonfiction, Vol. 3, or picking up Volume 1 and Volume 2, which received Publishers Weekly starred reviews.

Which post is going to be immortal?
It's good to hear that web writing counts, though in my case I'm often more concerned with future employers thinking it counts than literary anthologies.

Please tell me it was the 75 words or less blog!!! That was so great to read; truly a collaborative blogfest and so terrific to see everyone's wordsmith burst forth. Congratulations, Oronte, you deserve it!!

That's marvelous news-- congratulations!
I just read volume 2 last week. I've really enjoyed both volumes. (They also include some excellent blog writing, not that I would ever dream of reading blogs other than yours.)

Congratulations! I'm surprised, however, that you opted not to link to the post. Which one is it? Was it a condition of the deal that you would not promote it? I don't understand the logic.

You overestimate me. Sorry. No mysteries involved, only an oversight. But it did give Warrior Poet time to pre-order the anthology.
