OpenStax -- Rice University's nonprofit initiative for affordable, openly licensed textbooks -- has opened applications for its second round of institutional partnerships.

Between nine and 12 institutions will be selected as partners with OpenStax, which will help institutions launch and scale their own open textbook initiatives. OpenStax estimates the value of the program's coaching at $20,000. Institutions participate for free thanks to a grant from the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation.

Applications are due April 30. Winners will be selected by May 15, and this year's program will begin June 13.

Here's a list of last year's winners.
