Manage applications
Electronic application delivery -- your paper-routing problems are over
Through a creative partnership with the online portfolio management company Interfolio, Inside Higher Ed can deliver all the documents you require for job applications online. Interfolio is the Web's only online portfolio management service for academics. Chosen by many top colleges to manage their student and alumni credentials, Interfolio manages more than 25,000 full professional portfolios -- including confidential letters of recommendation, dissertation chapters, writing samples, you name it.
With Inside Higher Ed you have the option of "receiving" complete application materials -- all the documents candidates can maintain in their portfolios -- via a secure Web interface. The documents will in fact continue to reside in the Interfolio database but a special view is created so you -- and your entire search committee -- can access responses to a specific listing.
There are lots of benefits to online applications through Inside Higher Ed:
- No paper to copy, file or transcribe
- Complete candidate information is available to all members of a search committee at the same time
- You can easily post comments for other members to view
- Candidates can find out the status of their application at all times
- Communication with candidates (everything from "we've received your application" to "we won't be offering you a job" to "here's our offer") can be managed online so the search committee knows which candidates have received what
And candidates love the fact that creating their portfolio once allows them to apply for jobs at any institution. That's why more than 500 new portfolios are added every month. Inside Higher Ed and Interfolio make it easy for candidates to create portfolios -- during our introductory period there's no charge.
Online application delivery is included in the price of a job posting. Find out more about how online application delivery works.
Pre-screening -- pulling the needles from the haystack
Can the Internet make applying for a job too easy? Anyone who's received 600 applications for a single job opening knows that sometimes sorting applicants is a bigger challenge than finding them. Pre-screening is an increasingly popular feature that allows you to ask applicants a set of standardized questions about their qualifications -- you'll be able to quickly identify your top candidates no matter how big the pool.
Our pre-screening form allows you to create up to six yes/no or multiple choice questions that will appear when potential candidates click the "apply now" link in your listing. You have the option of making the pre-screening questionnaire mandatory in order for an application to be considered (we provide space for text explaining the requirement).
The option to include a pre-screening questionnaire is included in the price of a job posting. Find out more about pre-screening and get answers to your questions.
