Montclair State University is New Jersey’s second largest and fastest growing university, with a current enrollment of 16,000 students and a comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs on a beautiful suburban campus with over $600 million in capital assets 12 miles from the heart of New York City.

The Vice President for Budget and Resource Planning reports to the President and is the principal University officer responsible for the development of the University’s annual operating budget, currently totaling $250 million, as well as the University’s substantial capital budget. The Vice President serves as the University’s senior planning officer and provides strategic direction for the University’s long-term development and use of its resources.

The Vice President’s responsibilities include the development of the University’s annual budget submission to the state, forecasting future revenues and expenditures, allocating the University’s resources, implementing resource planning and allocation practices that provide for the University’s continued growth and development, and developing the planning data and analyses necessary to rigorous and creative resource allocation. The Vice President would have a significant role in the development of future strategic plans for the University.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications for the position include: a master’s degree in business administration or closely related field; significant experience in successful resource management and strategic planning at a senior level; excellent budgetary and financial system management capabilities; a broad and deep understanding of the varied budgetary components of a large university; highly developed analytical skills in resource management and forecasting; the ability to bring creativity and critical thinking to the solution of complex problems; the ability to work consultatively and collegially within a University community; excellent written and verbal communication skills; the presence to represent the University with external constituents; high energy; and, unquestioned integrity.
