New Programs: Video Games, Neuroscience, IT, Applied Math, Sports Management, Religious Leadership, Nursing

  • Worcester Polytechnic Institute will offer a B.S. degree in interactive media and game development, beginning next year. The program will allow students to work with faculty in the arts and computer science to create and design video games.
  • Knox College is using a $1 million from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to create a new major and a faculty position in neuroscience. Part of the grant money will fund a summer program for middle school girls to try to sustain interest in the sciences among pre-college students.
  • California State University at Fullerton is offering a two-year online master's program in information technology. 
  • Georgetown University has started a master's program in mathematical sciences, concentrating on applied math and statistics. 
  • Syracuse University has started an undergraduate degree in sports management.
  • Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion has created a leadership program for congregational school principals.
  • Alverno College has started a master of science in nursing program to open this fall.
