Quick Takes: Yale Bars Sudan-Related Investments, Students Gain Influence in TV Ratings

  • Yale University has joined several other colleges that have recently barred investments in companies that do business in Sudan. Yale’s announcement — like those of Harvard and Stanford Universities last year — cited the role of Sudan’s government in genocide in Darfur
  • Nielsen Media Research announced Tuesday that college students who live away from their parents would for the first time be included in the company’s famous ratings of television shows. The company will start to count the viewing habits of students in dormitories, fraternities and sororities and off-campus housing.
