- Gainesville State College, in Georgia, is starting a bachelor of fine arts degree in design and technology for theater.
- Indiana University at Bloomington has started a dual degree program in which students will earn both an M.A. and an M.F.A. in creative writing and African American and African diaspora studies.
- Iowa State University is starting a minor in bioengineering.
- Michigan Technological University is starting a master's degree in mechanical engineering that mixes traditional study with Peace Corps experience.
- The University of Minnesota at Rochester is creating a bachelor of science program in health sciences.
