New Presidents or Provosts: Cornell U., Georgia State U., Shawnee State U., Union Graduate College, U. of Tennessee-Knoxville, U. System of New Hampshire

Mark P. Becker, provost of the University of South Carolina at Columbia, has been selected as president of Georgia State University.

Jimmy Cheek, senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources at the University of Florida, has been chosen as chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

W. Kent Fuchs, Joseph Silbert Dean of Engineering at Cornell University, in New York, has been appointed provost there.

Edward MacKay, vice chancellor and treasurer of the University System of New Hampshire, has been named chancellor of the system.

Laura Schweitzer, founding regional dean of Albany Medical College's Cooperstown campus, has been selected as president of Union Graduate College, also in New York.

David Todt, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at Shawnee State University, in Ohio, has been promoted to the job on a permanent basis.
