- Bryant University, in Rhode Island, is starting a major in environmental sciences.
- Central Carolina Community College is starting an associate degree in biofuels.
- The College of Saint Rose, in New York, is starting a bachelor of arts in music for students who want to study music as part of a liberal arts education, but not necessarily to pursue a career in music.
