U.S. Protests Turkmenistan's Ban on Student Travel
U.S. officials on Monday issued a statement protesting travel bans by Turkmenistan on students seeking to enroll at American-affiliated universities in Bulgaria and Kyrgyzstan, the Associated Press reported. Turkmen authorities have been preventing some students from leaving since the summer. "We are dismayed by the government of Turkmenistan's continued denial of freedom of movement for ... Turkmen students," said the statement from the U.S. Embassy.
