New Presidents or Provosts: Harrisburg Area CC, Hawai'i Pacific U., Stevens Institute of Technology, U. of the Arts, Wayne State U., Western Illinois U.

Geoffrey Bannister, former president of Butler University and the Forum on Education Abroad, has been chosen as president of Hawai'i Pacific University.

Nariman Farvardin, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Maryland at College Park, has been appointed president of Stevens Institute of Technology, in New Jersey.

Allan Gilmour, interim president of Wayne State University, in Michigan, has been promoted to the job on a permanent basis.

Kirk E. Pillow, provost and interim president of Corcoran College of Art + Design, in Washington, D.C., has been selected as provost of the University of the Arts, in Pennsylvania.

John J. (Ski) Sygielski, president of Mt. Hood Community College, in Oregon, has been named president of Harrisburg Area Community College, in Pennsylvania.

Jack Thomas, provost and academic vice president at Western Illinois University, has been elevated to president there.
