The following colleges and universities have announced their commencement speakers for spring 2011:
- Bryant University: Daniel Akerson, chairman and CEO of General Motors, and Roger Mandle, executive director of the Qatar Museums Authority.
- College of New Rochelle: The Rev. Timothy M. Dolan, archbishop of New York.
- LIM College: Jill Granoff, former CEO of Kenneth Cole Productions.
- Maryville University: Cokie Roberts, the ABC News political commentator.
- Mott Community College: Donald W. Riegle Jr., former U.S. senator.
- New Hampshire Institute of Art: Arno Rafael Minkkinen, the photographer.
- Northeastern Illinois University: Rae Lewis-Thornton, the AIDS activist.
- Ohio University: Atul Gawande, a medical staff member of Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
- Salve Regina University: Jill Biden, community college educator and wife of the vice president.
- School of the Art Institute of Chicago: Patti Smith, the singer and visual artist.
- Southern Vermont College: Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa, associate professor of neurosurgery, neuroscience, oncology and cellular and molecular medicine, and the director of the Brain Tumor Stem Cell Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University.
- University of Maine at Farmington: Bill McKibben, the environmentalist.
