The number of women matriculating in medical schools rose by 6.2 percent in the fall of 2016, while the number for men fell by 2 percent, leaving the number of matriculants in American medical schools at roughly an even gender split: 10,474 women and 10,551 men. The figures come from the Association of American Medical Colleges, which also reported gains for the number of new minority students. Details may be found here.
