- New Hampshire Institute of Art: Arno Rafael Minkkinen, the photographer.
- Northeastern Illinois University: Rae Lewis-Thornton, the AIDS activist.
- Ohio University: Atul Gawande, a medical staff member of Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
- Salve Regina University: [3] Jill Biden, community college educator and wife of the vice president.
- School of the Art Institute of Chicago: Patti Smith, the singer and visual artist.
