Metamorphoses in Literature. Topoi and Motives (NEMLA 2013)

How have authors represented metamorphoses and what are the philosophical, historical, cultural and political reasons for describing transgression of boundaries between humans (man/woman), animals, and inanimate objects? The purpose of this panel is to examine both the fascination and the horror these transgressions elicit.
