Broward Community College is a large urban institution with three main campus locations and five centers which serves close to 60,000 credit and non-credit students annually. Located in southeast Florida, BCC was founded in 1960 as the first public higher education institution in Broward County and still functions as the principal provider of undergraduate higher education for county residents. Through a wide variety of degree, certificate and continuing education programs, the college attracts a diversity of students, including individuals who plan to receive their associate’s degree, transfer for a bachelor’s degree, acquire new job skills, and those seeking education for personal enrichment. In addition, the college is also a source of cultural enrichment, a resource for community development, business and industry, and an avenue for continued skill-upgrading and retraining.
The mission of Broward Community College is to provide high quality educational programs and services that are affordable and accessible to a diverse community of learners. Supported by the Board of Trustees and the community, a dedicated faculty and staff fulfill this mission through their commitment to student achievement, lifelong learning, academic excellence and the use of current technology.
Broward Community College Staff Development provides professional development and training opportunities to all BCC employees through in-house workshops, presentations and computer classes, as well as tuition reimbursement for formal education in outside colleges and universities.
