The American Council on Education has selected its next 42 fellows for a leadership development program that is known for landing participants on a fast track to senior appointments. The program places faculty members and mid-level administrators who have been identified as having potential talent for more senior positions at another campus for a semester or year during which the fellows are assigned administrative duties while being assigned a mentor, frequently a campus president. Of the 1,652 fellows over time in the program (counting the latest class), 300 have gone on to serve as chief executive officers of colleges and universities and more than 1,100 have served as provosts, vice presidents or deans. A list of the new class of fellows may be found here.
