I agree that taking a second job can be disastrous if you take the wrong type of job! If we are supposed to be educated--could we not find a 2nd job better than flipping burgers? Say-working a a department store, authoring a book or article, working weekends for a company or coporation in which our degree is tied to?
Most colleges provide for professional time that can also be used for secondary income--nurses work at the hospital for example. Maybe you have a part time hobby that can serve as a second source of income--welding, automotive repair, tutoring?? Think people!
I had no problem delivering pizza when I was teaching adjunct. In fact I was open, proud, and told my students.
If I could have made it on $500 a credit hour I wouldn't have delivered pizza.
I actually used to call myself a professional pizza man doing a little teaching on the side.
In fact, Martha I might have even delivered to you! I delivered for Pizza Hut in Las Cruces.
