A New Conversation

Welcome to Inside Higher Ed.

We are kicking off our Web site with our Insider column and periodic opinion pieces from our readers. Insider will be a little bit of everything that's going on in academe. We'll be linking to interesting articles and reports, letting you know the latest tips we've heard, commenting on the news, and sharing your reactions to all of the above. We are long-time observers of the academic world, and find its many issues and ideas fascinating. If you want to find out more about us, check out our biographies.

Our Web site is free, but we hope you'll sign up to receive the daily e-mail reports we'll be starting soon.

In the weeks ahead, this Web site will start to grow in significant ways. You'll start to see more opinion pieces, regular columns, blogs from a wide range of voices in higher education, a variety of job postings and career services, and original news reporting. You can read more about our vision for the site.

For now, we hope you'll start dropping by to read what's up. And we hope you'll help make this column a reader forum, too. Blog-style comments are coming soon, but for now, please e-mail your comments and we'll post them. And please e-mail us directly with your tips or ideas. Together, we can make everyone an insider.
