In an effort to improve overall survey quality, the AAUP Research Office realigned some faculty inclusion and exclusion criteria and reporting categories for the 2015 – 2016 Faculty Compensation Survey. This decision may result in an apparent decrease in ranked (Professor, Associate, Assistant) positions and in salary. This decrease is likely attributable to the exclusion of visiting faculty, who sometimes earn more than permanent ranked faculty.
