One of the best things about working in higher ed is that you get to start all over again at least twice every year.

Fall is my favorite, of course – to me it’s the true New Year.  On a traditional college campus the energy is palpable as excited, anxious new students venture forward and returning students come to realize how much they’ve grown and changed from being a similarly excited, anxious new student in a previous year.  And the excitement and energy are infectious for faculty and staff.

The spring is a second start and this week we started a new semester and our second Strategy and Competition in Higher Education course on Tuesday night.  This semester’s class is comprised of a diverse group – a college president, several deans, a lab supervisor, a provost, an academic business manager, several instructors, an admissions advisor, senior staffers, a chief learning officer, business people, and technologists – so the discussions should be very interesting!  There are still a few seats left, if you would like to join us. Either way, we’ll share some of the discussions we have with you and loop you in via the blog and hope that you’ll join the discussion.

Starting a new class in a new semester always feels great.  Here’s wishing you a wonderful new term!
