North Idaho College employees change lives every day by creating hope and opportunity for students through education.

With a relentless commitment to student success, educational excellence, community engagement, and lifelong learning, NIC employees enjoy a rewarding atmosphere of meaningful work and significant achievement.

NIC is a comprehensive community college established in 1933 on the shores of beautiful Lake Coeur d’Alene. The college offers more than 80 different degrees and certificates through its academic transfer and career and technical education programs. NIC also offers non-credit learning and training opportunities for students, community members and employers. Through this diverse selection of programs, NIC’s state-of-the-art facilities, and strong relationships with educational partners and the business community, the college is positioned to set all students on a path to career success while contributing to a vibrant, local economy.
Approximately 6,000 students are enrolled in credit classes and more than 4,400 participate annually in non-credit courses.
NIC’s main campus is in downtown Coeur d’Alene, a growing city of more than 50,000 and just 34 miles from the city of Spokane, Washington, where the population is roughly 220,000. The greater Spokane-Coeur d’Alene metropolitan area has more than 720,000 residents.
The beautiful campus reflects NIC leadership’s commitment to environmental and economic sustainability.
NIC serves Idaho’s five northern counties through outreach centers in Bonners Ferry, Kellogg, and Sandpoint, along with online offerings. Other regional NIC facilities include the Parker Technical Education Center in Rathdrum, the Workforce Training Center in Post Falls, and the Aerospace Center in Hayden.
