Working at NMU

Northern Michigan University prides itself on the knowledge, skills and real-world experiences that faculty and staff bring to campus. This process begins with attracting and selecting quality candidates. Our faculty, staff, and student employees have always combined to form a very special community here at Northern. We desire to be a role model in embracing all types of diversity and diverse points of view, engaging in civil society and governance, protecting human rights and promoting social justice.

Our other core values include community, rigor, environment, connection, opportunity and innovation.

The NMU President’s Committee on Diversity is represented by 25 students, faculty and staff. The committee is charged with the six following tasks:

1) To create and implement action plans to promote diversity within the framework of the university’s mission and strategic plan.
