Deep Springs College

Deep Springs College

Deep Springs is a two-year, fully accredited private liberal arts college located in a high desert valley in eastern California. The college devotes itself each year to the education of 30 promising young people dedicated to serving humanity. During their two years at the Deep Springs, students immerse themselves in a demanding educational experience that unites a seminar-based academic program with manual labor and extensive student self-governance. All students attend on full scholarship. After Deep Springs, students typically continue their studies at world-class universities.

Deep Springs offers faculty a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in study and collaboration with students, as well as a chance to explore new courses and approaches while developing their teaching skills. Here, teachers work closely with students to identify mutual course objectives and the best methods to achieve them. The professor’s role is to guide exceptional students through challenging material. Classes rarely exceed 12 students, and approximately 8-10 classes are offered each semester. Faculty members live on campus in Deep Springs Valley, which is about 25 miles from the nearest town (Big Pine, CA, population: ~1700).

Deep Springs is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnic origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religion or political affiliation.

Note on non-U.S. applications: Because of time-consuming federal procedures combined with our small size and limited administrative resources, Deep Springs regrets that it cannot support visa applications for faculty applicants who are not already or otherwise eligible for employment in the United States.
