UC-Berkeley Engages Blackboard Ally to Improve Accessibility
March 28, 2018

The University of California, Berkeley, has contracted with Blackboard to connect students to online courses through the Blackboard Ally inclusive learning platform, which aims to improve accessibility for all students. Students will begin using Ally this fall.

Blackboard Ally integrates with an institution's learning management system -- in this case, Canvas -- and runs course materials through a checklist of common accessibility issues. Then it generates a list of alternatives for instructors' original content. UC Berkeley joined with Blackboard Ally after a successful semester-long pilot.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
