2U to Acquire Digital Annotation Platform CritiqueIt

2U is continuing its expansion, agreeing today to purchase CritiqueIt, whose platform enables real-time annotation of documents, images and other digital content by faculty members and students. 2U is integrating the technology into its degree programs and short-term courses, and once it does that, CritiqueIt will be proprietary to 2U's offerings.

Last year 2U bought GetSmarter, which focuses on short courses for working professionals. And earlier this year it struck an arrangement with the office-sharing firm WeWork on an array of services.

Terms of the CritiqueIt deal were not disclosed.
