New Programs: Simulation, Environmental Science and Engineering, Management, Public Health, Family Law, Homeland Security Nursing

  • The Art Institute of California -- San Francisco has started a new bachelor's program in simulation and virtual environments. The program will focus on three-dimensional, real-time model making.
  • City College of the City University of New York has started two new undergraduate programs linking engineering and environmental science. One program is a bachelor of science in environmental and earth system science. The other program is a bachelor of eningeering in environmental and earth system engineering.
  • George Fox University, in Oregon, in May will start a doctoral program in management. The program is designed for people who already have a master's degree and at least 10 years of professional experience.
  • Georgia Southern University has upgraded its public health program into a college.
  • Hofstra University has created a new master of law degree in family law. The program will start in the fall, and will provide training for those wishing to specialize in matrimonial issues, child protection, international family law, and gay and lesbian family law, among other topics.
  • The University of Tennessee at Knoxville has started a new concentration in its nursing programs, focused on homeland security. Students will gain knowledge in the particular skills needed to respond to mass casualties.
