  • The California Institute of the Arts is starting a master of arts program in aesthetics and politics. The one-year program is for artists seeking to deepen the political or theoretical elements of their work, or for those seeking to combine art with a scholarly career.
  • Marshall University, in West Virginia, is starting a major in Japanese.
  • New Mexico State University is starting a degree program in culinology, which combines culinary arts with food science. The program is being developed with El Paso Community College and Central New Mexico Community College, and New Mexico State anticipates recruiting graduates of their two-year programs for the new degree.
  • St. Lawrence University has started a major in conservation biology.
