  • Plymouth State University, in New Hampshire, is starting a doctor of education program, the university's first doctoral offering.
  • Salem Community College, in New Jersey, is starting an associate of arts program in emergency management.
  • Southern Methodist University is starting a Ph.D. in systems engineering.
  • University of Rhode Island is starting a four-year bachelor of pharmaceutical sciences program. Unlike the six years of training that leads to a doctor of pharmacy degree, the bachelor's program will not prepare students to be pharmacists, but for research and industry careers in pharmaceuticals.
