A coalition of higher education associations on Tuesday sent a letter to members of Congress seeking $500 million in assistance for colleges that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The colleges have suffered severe damage and been forced to call off classes for the fall semester and yet have received "little or no federal government assistance," the associations wrote.
