Justine Cassell, director of the Center for Technology & Social Behavior at Northwestern University, in Illinois, has been named director of the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pennsylvania.
Lydia Conca, associate professor of education at Saint Joseph College, in Connecticut, has been promoted to professor of education there.
Kathie L. Olsen, senior advisor in the office of information and resource management at the National Science Foundation, has been appointed as vice president for international programs at the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.

Mark Scheid, president of Tan Tao University Project, in Vietnam, has been named president of the Institute for Study Abroad at Butler University, in Indiana.
