The following colleges and universities have announced their commencement speakers for spring 2012:

• Coker College is starting a master of science program in sports management.
• Jackson Community College, in Michigan, is starting an associate degree in manufacturing.
• Pacific Northwest College of Art is starting a master of arts program in critical theory and creative research.

• Jonathan R. Alger, senior vice president and general counsel at Rutgers University, in New Jersey, has been appointed as president of James Madison University, in Virginia.

• Loyola University Chicago is starting a master's program in supply chain management.
• New York University is starting an M.F.A. in game design.
• South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is starting a master's program in mining engineering.

• Daniel A. Bain, president of Independence Community College, in Kansas, has been chosen as president of Jefferson Davis Community College, in Alabama.
