October's Contest Congratulations to the winner of Inside Higher Ed's Cartoon Caption Contest for October, John Whitlock, dean of arts and sciences at Pasco-Hernando Community College, in New Port Richey, Fla. His caption suggestion for the cartoon at left, which earned the most votes from readers among the three finalists chosen by our panel of experts, was: "Financial aid now requires five co-signers for my student loans." He'll receive an Amazon gift certificate and a copy of the cartoon signed by Matthew Henry Hall. Congratulations, and thanks to all who submitted captions.

September's Contest Congratulations to Bonnie Garner, the first winner of Inside Higher Ed's Cartoon Caption Contest. Bonnie is executive assistant to the president at East Central College, in Union, Mo. Her caption suggestion for the cartoon at left, which earned the most votes from readers among the three finalists chosen by our panel of experts, was: "My adviser told me all my grades were below C level...." She will receive a $100 gift certificate from Amazon.
