Digene Corp. will pay Georgetown University $7.5 million plus additional licensing fees to settle a patent dispute over technology that can be used to detect some forms of cancer and other diseases, the parties announced Thursday.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association on Thursday affirmed findings last year that an assistant football coach violated recruiting rules and engaged in unethical conduct. The assistant coach, who disputed the findings, was charged with paying a prospective athlete cash for summer courses to become eligible to attend the university, and then allowing the prospect to keep some of the money.
