Bob Huggins resigned as men's basketball coach at the University of Cincinnati after President Nancy Zimpher gave him a Wednesday deadline to quit or be fired. The Cincinnati Post reported that Huggins had agreed to a buyout, worth about $3 million, to end his 16 years as coach, which included much on-the-court success but a dubious academic recordand other turmoil, including Huggins' drunk driving arrest last summer.
Edison Community College is an arm of the state under Florida's 2003 education law and therefore is shielded from a former employee's lawsuit by the 11th Amendment, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit ruled Wednesday.
Female college students spend more time studying and are more likely to earn A's in their courses than their male counterparts are, according to a study released Wednesday by Student Monitor and the Association of American Publishers. The study also found that students at two-year institutions are 23 percent likelier than four-year-college students to say that they study efficiently.
