Commencement Speakers Announced: Alfred State, Barnard, Hilbert, Meredith, Northwestern

The following colleges and universities have announced their commencement speakers for spring 2012:

• Alfred State -- State University of New York College of Technology: Stephen Zawistowski, executive vice president for national programs at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
• Barnard College: Jill Abramson, executive editor of The New York Times.
• Hilbert College: JoAnn Falletta, music director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
• Meredith College: Silda Wall Spitzer, managing director at Metropolitan Capital Advisors and former first lady of New York State.
• Northwestern University: Paul Farmer, co-founder of Partners In Health and chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
