The following colleges and universities have announced their commencement speakers for spring 2013:
- Cooper Union: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
- Lehigh University: Neil deGrasse Tyson, the astrophysicist, space exploration advocate and author.
- McNally Smith College of Music: Yancey Strickler, founder of Kickstarter.
- Smith College: Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of Huffington Post Media Group.
- Sweet Briar College: Allida M. Black, executive editor of fdr4freedoms Digital Resource, an online education and advocacy program dedicated to President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s "Four Freedoms."
- Whitman College: Eric Idle, the actor and writer.
- Wilson College: Sylvia A. Earle, former chief scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
- Youngstown State University: Ed O'Neill, the actor.
