• Gale E. Gibson, interim president of Essex County College, in New Jersey, has been named to the job on a permanent basis.
• Alison Morrison-Shetlar, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Elon University, has been appointed provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Western Carolina University.
• Thomas F. Rosenbaum, provost and John T. Wilson Distinguished Service Professor of Physics at the University of Chicago, has been chosen as president of the California Institute of Technology.
• Sue Ott Rowlands, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech, has been named vice president for academic affairs and provost at Northern Kentucky University.
• Steven Schulz, provost at Des Moines Area Community College's Carroll campus, in Iowa, has been selected as president of North Iowa Area Community College.
• William M. Tsutsui, dean and professor of history in Southern Methodist University's Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, in Texas, has been appointed as president of Hendrix College, in Arkansas.
