Humboldt State University has stopped stocking toilet paper in the bathrooms of four of the six student residences on campus, and students held a protest of the new policy on Friday, KRCR News reported. Humboldt State says that the four housing units in which students no longer receive toilet paper are "apartment style" and so it is reasonable to assume students will buy their own.

But students note that they are still paying rent and that they have long expected toilet paper in university housing. One student told the network about the impact of the new policy. "Not only is it putting an additional financial burden on students, it's causing social friction," he said. "Some people aren't buying their share of the toilet paper, some people are hoarding toilet paper. It's causing a huge problem in the halls without it."
