Another Distinction for Carly Fiorina

Ted Cruz, who is trailing Donald Trump in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, on Wednesday said he would name Carly Fiorina as his running mate. Fiorina's presidential campaign never took off, but she has one distinction of interest to academics. She is a rare Republican political figure in that she has noted value in a liberal arts education. As an undergraduate at Stanford University, Fiorina studied philosophy and medieval history. In October, she said that this study was valuable “because what ISIS wants to do is drive us back to the Middle Ages, literally.” She added that “every single one of the techniques that ISIS is using, the crucifixion, the beheadings, the burning alive, those were commonly used techniques in the Middle Ages.”
