Students at the University of Washington march through campus in a demonstration.About 200 students at the University of Washington held a rally and then marched into a planned campus discussion on diversity issues, largely taking over the discussion, The Seattle Times reported. The students then gave speeches about the racism that they see at the university, applauding those comments and chanting, "Black lives matter." The students issued a series of demands, including a 25 percent increase in the number of minority faculty members by 2017, and the adoption of a new style of policing on campus. The students also demanded that two streets be renamed because they honor people who were involved in genocide against Native Americans.

Students posted photographs of the events to social media. Image at top right shows the march to the event and image below shows the students after they arrived at the discussion.
