Administrators at Wittenberg University in Ohio have announced that they plan to cut eight faculty positions, according to The Springfield News-Sun.

The teaching positions will be cut for the 2020-21 academic year. The instructors losing their appointments have already been notified that they will not being coming back next year. Six of the eight positions are untenured, and two are on the tenure track.

University officials cited enrollment trends for the university, Ohio and nationally as the motivation behind the cuts.

Students and faculty members across the campus were alerted to the cuts via email on Friday morning.
