Papa John's International is serving up more than pizza to the students of Simmons College.

The fast food franchise is in hot water with Simmons after it made the decision to revoke $20,000 in promised scholarships from the college's students.

The company was set to give $2,000 to 10 students when it made the decision to not follow through after finding out former CEO John Schnatter donated $1 million to the Kentucky college.

Papa John's contests this description of events, saying Simmons denied the scholarship donation, to which a spokesperson for the college questioned why they would turn down money for their students, according to ABC affiliate WHAS 11.

The scholarships were promised in August and revoked three weeks into the semester. A university spokesperson told WHAS 11 that the move has left students scrambling to recover the funds.
