Wheeling University will be bringing back some athletic and academic programs it had decided to temporarily cut this past spring, reports WTOV 9.

This January, the university will once again offer majors in English, engineering and biology. Wheeling will be hiring two new full-time faculty for positions in the engineering and biology departments.

Students will also be able to enroll in the new online criminal justice and psychology programs starting in January as well.

The university will reinstate its swimming, lacrosse and men's golf programs, and introduce competitive cheerleading into the athletics roster.

In April Wheeling eliminated its liberal arts majors, causing the Jesuits to cut ties, and in August both the president and senior vice president were placed on temporary administrative leave. Earlier this month eight former faculty members sued the university for wrongful termination.
