Twelve faculty and staff members working in gender studies, sociology and several diversity-related offices at Wake Forest University got threatening emails last week, according to The Charlotte Observer. The anonymous notes reportedly praised the country’s white, male founders and called for the U.S. to be “purged” of ethnic and sexual minorities. “The emails were intentionally inflammatory, using racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic and discriminatory language,” Wake Forest reportedly said in an all-university memo Thursday. “The wording of the emails was intentionally intimidating and threatening,” but no specific threats were made. Campus police and other authorities are investigating, the university also said.
