  • The National Collegiate Athletic Association has placed Florida International University on three years' probation because of violations in its football program. The Division I Committee on Infractions accepted the results of the university's own investigation, which found that a former assistant football coach committed unethical conduct by knowingly holding impermissible summer workouts with players. The former coach, who was fired by Florida International last year, will be required to appear before the infractions committee if he seeks to work at another NCAA member college within the next three years.
