U.S. senator Ron Wyden of Oregon, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, on Wednesday followed through on his pledge to introduce legislation to respond to the issue of donors making large gifts to colleges just before or after their children apply for admissions. The legislation, among other things, would require colleges to explicitly bar the consideration of donations in the admissions process and to report on the admission of donors' children.
