I know that the higher education community is a priority for you. Your higher ed site is really nice. Many of my colleagues use (and teach with) your products on a daily basis. The Adobe eLearning Suite is essential software for many folks involved in designing and delivering technology enabled learning.

TED talks pose all sorts of challenges and opportunities for those of us in higher education. The quality of the freely available content gives lie to the notion that the best lectures occur within the gates of academe. The format of the talks can teach us a thing or two about the optimal length, timing, pace and content of the lecture. And the conversations around the online lectures remind us that the degree to which learning is social.

I was heartened to see Zemsky put learning at the top of his list of the tough issues facing higher education, ahead of attainment and money. Zemsky outlines some of the typical challenges faced by colleges and universities in supporting student learning and measuring the results. He writes that, "there is a growing suspicion -- and in some quarters an already angry conviction -- that all is not well with the learning enterprise."

Dear EDUCAUSE: Please Kindle Your Publications This week I checked out our Library's Kindle 2 so I could test the thing myself. My main need is to be able to manage my professional reading. Many PDFs cross my desk, and I end-up carrying lots of print-outs around. It would be ideal to have these all in my e-book reader. Why Kindle? Well ... I'm very much hooked into the Amazon ecoystem and I may want to also read a book or two. My first experiment was with the EDUCAUSE Review.

Learning technologists share an abiding faith in the power of the creative process. We believe that students learn when they create. In grad school we were told that the divide line between a graduate student and an undergraduate is that the graduate student is creating knowledge. We want push opportunities to create knowledge out to all of our students because we believe that it is the teacher who learns, the speaker who learns, the writer who learns, the blogger who learns, the mashup producer who learns.

I'm thinking we need to try something different when it comes to grading.
