A student at Bryant University has publicly alleged that administrators at the private Rhode Island institution pressured him to remove a Facebook status detailing one of his peers calling him a racial slur.

Quinton Law, who is president of the Bryant University Democrats and a football player, said he was called a racial slur as he walked back to his apartment on Super Bowl Sunday, The Providence Journal reported.

Earlier this month, after he made a status about the incident, he told the Journal that “he was pressured by Bryant to take it down.”

The woman who had used the slur was apparently receiving threats, the Journal reported.

A Bryant spokeswoman confirmed to the Journal that the incident occurred and that it was being investigated. The university condemns bigotry or “insensitivity toward others,” her statement said.
