The men's soccer and cross-country teams at Harvard University have been facing scandals over online exchanges in which team members have made sexist comments about female athletes and others. Now the Columbia University wrestling team is facing scrutiny. Bwog, a blog about the university, has published screen shots of a wrestling team GroupMe (a way to text members of a group). Comments are sexist, racist, homophobic and offensive in all kinds of ways. (One of the screen shots is at right.)

The university, which is now investigating, told the team not to participate in a competition over the weekend. “Columbia University has zero tolerance in its athletics programs for the group messaging and texts sent by several members of the men’s varsity wrestling team. They are appalling, at odds with the core values of the university, violate team guidelines and have no place in our community,” said a statement from the university.
